We understand the importance of the training and assessment phase for our students and their experience. We know it needs to be high-quality and engaging while also equipping students with the right skills for the workforce.
Students have said that it's important to them that:
They have spoken and we have listened!
Our goal is to help students learn the skills to successfully gain their qualifications and we understand to do that, we need to listen to the needs of those students. We also want our students who are looking for employment to be equipped and ready for the workforce. Our Trainers have real life hands on experience and understand what the industry looks like for those wanting/working within it.
But don't just take it from us! Take a look at what our students have said:
Chris Walsh - "The combination of Russell and Brendan as heavy vehicle coaches is brilliant, the relaxed nature of Russell helps with beginners nerves (I had many) and Brendan’s direct and proactive teaching rounds out an excellent combination! 5 stars from me! Cheers guys!"
Robert Garland - "I really like the range of practical courses that open so many career opportunities. Their training delivery is flexible, work and outcome focused, giving participants great value-for-money. We are blessed to have such a passionate high performance RTO in our region. Well done and big thank you to Team SDS!"
Josh Clover - "Hi all, just like to say that I had a great experience with SDS. In particular Brendan, his approach to training on the road and attitude made my experience the best i could of asked for. Would highly recommend any training with you guys. Will be back soon. Thanks again."

VETiS funding:
Some students undertake nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) qualifications while they are still at school.
VETis learning which is directly related to work. Nationally recognised qualifications are developed by industry to give people the knowledge and skills they need to work in a particular job.
Students can undertake VET at school:
VETiS qualifications funded by the VET investment budget are listed on the Priority Skills List. These qualifications are delivered by RTOs who have been approved by the department as Skills Assure suppliers (SAS) under the Certificate 3 Guarantee. Schools, in consultation with students and their parents, are able to choose any SAS approved to deliver the eligible qualification.
Students undertaking VETiS, funded by the VET Investment budget, can complete one employment stream qualification at the certificate I or II level.
VETiS qualifications on the Priority Skills List are at the certificate I and II level. Students who wish to access the VET investment budget to undertake a certificate III qualification should do so through a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SAT)—funding for a SAT is available under the User Choice program.

USER CHOICE:
The User Choice program provides a public funding contribution towards the cost of training and assessment for eligible Queensland apprentices and trainees.
The program provides the flexibility for apprentices, trainees and their employers to select a preferred registered training organisation (RTO) from a list of pre-approved suppliers for the delivery of nationally recognised, accredited training to meet their specific needs. The program works in conjunction with the Commonwealth Australian Apprenticeships system, under which apprentices and trainees (also known in some jurisdictions as "Australian Apprentices") enter into legally binding training contracts with their employers and receive structured training to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

If you’re an employer preparing to introduce young people or overseas backpackers to your business, it’s important you ensure they are properly trained and supervised in their new roles.
Farm workers and inexperienced workers have some of the highest injury rates of any worker group. Young workers and inexperienced backpackers need more supervision and communication than experienced workers, which is why employers and supervisors have a duty of care to train and supervise them in proper safety procedures.
Employers must consider the tasks they give to new and young workers, given their skills, abilities and experience. Before a person begins work, it’s vital to identify the gaps in their knowledge and assess their ability to work safely. Competency should be tested. It is not sufficient to accept a young worker's assurance that they are experienced and competent.
Inexperienced workers also needed to have risk management strategies and their rights to a safe working environment explained to them, including:
Workers have responsibilities too, including following all reasonable instructions, policies and procedures.
